Programming for Non-Programmers, by Steve Lott is a book about programming in Python. I recommend the beginning
part of this book to computer newbies: it explains the basic parts of a computer: harware, operating system, programs, binary numbers - in (what I consider) to be
pretty darn clear. FWIW I knew Steve when we both worked at what used to
be GE.
