Peter Vale is currently a Fellow at the International Center for Advanced Studies at New York University. In February 2003, he will take up the Nelson Mandela Chair of Politics at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa. His most recent appointment has been as Senior Professor in the School of Government at the University of Western Cape, South Africa. At the same institution he has served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), as Professor of Southern African Studies and as sometime Professor of Social Theory. His new book Security and Politics in South Africa: The regional dimension will be published by Lynne Rienner in November.
