The First Year Peer Advisors will work closely with an assigned First Year Advisor and will help provide information, referrals, academic support and transitional assistance to first year students.
The First Year Faculty Advisor will be responsible for providing academic advisement and transitional support to a group of 25 students for the Fall and Spring semesters. They will meet with each student at least three times in the Fall and two times in the Spring.
First Year Peer Advisors will work closely with the Faculty Advisor to enhance the advisement experience.
Specific responsibilities of the First Year Peer Advisors include to:
First Year Peer Advisors will enroll in GST 101/303 in the Fall semester and will receive 3 credits (letter graded) for their involvement in the First Year Advisement Program. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required. Students must have completed one semester at Oswego in order to apply. Students must be in good standing with the college to participate in this program.
