Imaginitive construction is the problem solving strategy of identifying a key (essential) object,  not readily apparent in the problem description,  whose creation and manipulation reders the problem solution ``simpler.''  

This is a powerful idea because an individual can create something that isn't actuatually therein order to help them solve a problem much easier then if they tried to find a solution without any help.
