- Description and Prerequisites
- Simulation techniques; discrete and continuous change
models, simulation languages, applications.
Prereq: CSC 241, MAT 215 (and all its prereqs)
Note: Since this is a 400-level CS course, it is assumed that
you have
taken (and passed) all your cognate courses.
- Course Outline
- This course will stress system analysis and modeling through the use
of continuous and discrete-event simulation.
- Continuous time simulation
- Basics of discrete-event simulation
- Queuing models
- probability and statistics
- Discrete and continuous distributions
- Generating random numbers and random variates
- Data collection and analysis
- Model building
- Model validation and verification
- Case studies in modeling different types of systems (service, manufacturing, etc).

- the average of 2 (or more) tests, and various and sundry announced and/or
pop quizzes 20%.
- assignments (programming and otherwise) 20%.
- project (proposal, web-paper, presentation, critique) 60%.
(CSC 554 requires an additional paper.)
- Letter Grades: A, B, C, C-, E

The minimal penalty will be -maximum grade for a
quiz/test/assignment/project for all parties involved.
Additional actions may be initiated if deemed appropriate.
- There are no makeup tests. If missing a test is unavoidable,
