Facial Reconstruction of
Queen Nefertiti
I undertake research into developing new methods of facial reconstruction
with Martin Evison
from Sheffield University. Forensic case work is sometimes undertaken
when unidentified skeletal remains are found. These reconstructions
are often widely distributed by the national press, and television
programs such as Crimewatch, to help in the identification of
the victim.
We were recently given xrays of the skull of an unidentified
Egyptian mummy. We applied our innovative new approach to build
a facial reconstruction. This involved the creation of a three-dimensional
model of a face that Egypotologists believe could be that of
the famous Egyptian Queen, Nefertiti.
