I. COURSE NUMBER AND CREDIT:

        ISC 390 - 1-3 S. H.

II. COURSE TITLE:

        Selected Topics

III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

        Study of selected topics in the area of information
        science providing opportunities for the study of
        material not covered in current course offerings.

IV. PREREQUISITES:

        At least junior standing and 12 hours completed in
        the information core.  Other prerequisite(s) will be
        specified when the course is announced.

V. JUSTIFICATION:

        This course provides the student the opportunity to
        study topics in an area of interest in the discipline
        that are not ordinarily offered as a course.  This
        course will be taught irregularly, as demand
        warrants, with a maximum class size of 35.  The
        Information Science Curriculum Committee must approve
        the outline and bibliography of each course before it
        is offered, with specific reference to number of
        credit hours, specific prerequisites, and appropriate
        level (200, 300, or 400 level).  This committee will
        monitor the course.

VI. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

        This course will allow a student to study in an area
        of information science not ordinarily offered.  This
        course will also allow the Information Science
        program to respond to changes in the discipline in a
        timely fashion

VIII. METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:

        Method of instruction will vary from topic to topic
        yielding different mixtures of lecture, discussion,
        and demonstration.
