MxM = Music eXploration Machine. MxM is a tool that is may be used in the analysis and composition of melodic forms. MxM actually consists of two programs, Agent J and Agent L. Agent J is a Java program which a wide audience of people may find valuable. Agent L is a Lisp program which will be of interest largely to AI researchers who are interested in studying cognitive phenomena surrounding melodic analysis and composition. Since most people using MxM will be interacting exclusively with Agent J, the mention of MxM is generally a reference to Agent J.
