Java CS2 Course Notes (Highlights from the Summer 2006 CS2 Course at Oswego)
"Computer Science Java Style" is a hypertext book which is based directly on lectures that I wrote and delivered to a large class of students during the Fall, 1995 semester. The course was well received by most students, as measured by their successful engagement in the prescribed activities and their collectively expressed satisfaction.
"Computer Science Java Style" is designed for use in a first course for Computer Science students. The aim of the hypertext is to illuminate lasting elements of Computer Science through an object-oriented programming experience. The hypertext features the Java language, largely because of its object-orientation, its simplicity, and its potential popularity.
The featured component is the hyperbook .Supporting the hyperbook are:
- A concept index - which provides a browsing mechanism for those interested in a simple sort of staccato study.
- A collection of blue Java packages - libraries of classes which support the computational investigation of ideas presented in the text.
- An emacs environment - which supports the laboratory and programming challenges distributed throughout the text.
Enjoy!
