Cog212 was added to our curriculum after our 2012 self-study. The intent was to add an alternative to the Csc212 course which is (1) a legitimate CS1 course, and (2) tailored to cognitive science students by virtue of examples and exercises, and extra emphasis on theoretical aspects of distributed cognition, and practical aspects of metacognition.
