The Colored Clay activities...
Introduction to the Colored Clay Languages
  1. Green Clay is a very simple language. All it lets you do is type in one word commands. You will become acquainted with the general environment in which you are going to work by engaging in this Green Clay Intro.

  2. Blue Clay is an extension of Green Clay in which you can write programs. You will get a feel for building programs in a "bottom-up" manner in Blue Clay Intro (Part 1).

  3. You will engage in a "top-down" programming experience in Blue Clay Intro (Part 2).
Introduction to Green Clay Programmed Instruction Modules
  1. One approach to becoming good at performing some cognitive or physical task to through a program of guided practice. While you may have no need of practice with "math facts", you will gain a good understanding of the concept of a "programmed instruction module" by doing the following Times Trial in the context of Green Clay.

  2. A "mental arithmetic" skill which I find very useful involves multiplying a number by 10 using a particular technique. See how well you can do on the following "10"s Trial
The Quarter Arc World (and Trials)
  1. You will get acquainted with a very simple graphics world based on the notion of 'a quarter arc' by doint Blue Clay QuArc World Intro (Part 1).
  2. Please do a "10"s Trial.
  3. You will define some simple QuArc World 'utility programs' in Blue Clay QuArc World Intro (Part 2).
  4. Please do a "25"s Trial.
  5. You will define more QuArc World 'utility programs' in Blue Clay QuArc World Intro (Part 3).
  6. Please do a "10"s Trial.
  7. Please do a "25"s Trial.
The Polygon World (and Trials)
  1. Please do a "Basic Math Facts" Trial.
  2. Please do a "10s" Trial.
  3. You will get acquainted with a very simple graphics world based on the notion of 'a quarter arc' by doint Blue Clay Polygon World Intro (Part 1).
Indigo Clay and the Indigo Clay Polygon World (and Trials)
  1. Please get acquainted with the Indigo Clay language by doing the Indigo Clay Intro.
  2. Time to enter the Indigo Clay Point World and try your hand at some simple design generation. Consider activity this to be Indigo Clay Point World .
  3. Time to enter the Indigo Clay Mondrian World and try your hand at some simple design generation. Consider activity this to be Indigo Clay Mondrian World .
  4. Please do a "Basic Math Facts" Trial.
  5. Please do a '25s' Trial.
The Indigo Clay Polygon World (and Trials)
  1. Time to get acquainted with the Indigo Clay Melody world by working through the Indigo Clay Melody Intro (Part 1) .
  2. Please do a "Basic Math Facts" Trial.
  3. In a "bottom-up" fasion, please model Dmitri Kabalevski's "Little Tune in the Little Tune activity
  4. Please do a '10s' Trial.
